7 pm SHANNON McNALLY with GREG LEISZ plus special guest JARROD DICKENSON at McCabe’s, 3101 Pico Bl, Santa Monica 90405; 310-828-4497.
We caught SHANNON McNALLY's performance at the dedication of the Mississippi Blues Trail marker at the Grammy Museum, and her presence and performance were as beautriful and gracefully powerful as ever.
McCabe's booker Lincoln Myerson says, “we bring the soulful southern balladry of ex-New Orleans' songstress Shannon McNally who for this show has teamed up with understated guitar-god Greg Leisz, who takes time off from his busy schedule this year working with the likes of Ray Lamontagne and guitar supergroup Majestic Silver Strings featuring himself, Buddy Miller, Marc Ribot and Bill Frisell. A big deal in Austin, Nashville and most southern music towns, McNally is starting to make a name for herself in these parts and this Sunday she will be making her McCabe's debut! Opening the show is Texas transplant Jarrod Dickenson, a great young singer-songwriter who has just finished recording his latest effort (featuring Mr. Leisz) and who's past performances at McCabe's floored us. This is going to be a very cool show. We hope you can make it down for this one.” $15.

Sun, Dec 4, in Ventura:
LILY WILSON plays “a special benefit show that promises to be an amazing day of music and art” at Zoey's Cafe, 451 E Main St, Ventura 93001; www.zoeyscafe.com; 805-652-0091.
"Wilson is an accomplished singer-songwriter with a well-honed ear for pop hooks and melodic flights. Her songs, which generally deal with self-discovery, and love and its various consequences, are fresh and bright, and exude California sunshine." — Leicester Bangs "words-R-us" (Leicester, England)
" Wilson's voice is high and soothing, but still maintains enough power to push to the forefront of some very dense arrangements… Between Lily Wilson's gorgeous voice and Mark Browne's impeccable production, every song is able to offer something unique to the listener… Fortunately for Wilson, her exceptional blending of different musical styles has made "Harbour" a great place for various music fans to dock." — Heath Andrews
"Throughout 'Harbour,' Wilson’s passion for life and music is evident. While her talent is undeniable, in a world full of singer-songwriters it’s hard for many to stand out from the crowd. Luckily, beautiful ballads like “Build It Again” set her apart. Segueing effortlessly from the more up-tempo tracks to the heartfelt ballads, Wilson is a musician to reckon with. " — Annie Reuter
