6 pm BATTLESHIP IOWA WELCOME CENTER DEDICATION and ribbon cutting, at 237 W 6th St, San Pedro. Congresswoman Janice Hahn and many local dignitaries will join locals and members of the nonprofit who won the USS IOWA for permanent display in San Pedro. The ship will make its final voyage in the open sea later this month, from the Bay Area to its new home. Volunteers are being sought to help prepare and interpret the ship as an historic resource for visitors. Drop by and get an idea of possibilities to come. This is the same year that L.A. becomes home to one of NASA's Space Shuttle orbiters. Exciting times ahead, and certainly many will bring opportunities for musicians!
