Thu, Oct 4:
7:30 pm TREVOR GREEN shares the lineup with PARKER AINSWORTH, who is just back in L.A., tonight at Witzend, 1717 Lincoln Bl, Venice 90291 (just W of Venice Bl) ); www.witzendlive.com.
+
California native TREVOR GREEN grew-up on the beaches of Southern Cal, where he spent as much time riding waves as he did strumming his guitar. The versatile musician does vocals and plays guitars -- 6 and 12 string and lap slide, plus banjo, mandolin, ukulele, didgeridoo, stompbox and harmonica. For the past five years Green has toured heavily in the Western US, establishing a loyal and enthusiastic fan base. His music fuses world, funk, folk and jam rock in a high-energy performance. He’s been called "a musical breath of fresh air..." by Richard Wellenreiter, Cole Clark Guitars North America. Michael Billings of the Los Angeles Daily Journal remarked, "the skill-set of this finger-style guitarist's free form artistic ability combined with enthusiasm and apparent love of cultured music is showcased in a raw, live, unedited fashion."
+
PARKER AINSWORTH is a singer-songwriter who brings forth the art of storytelling through music from a space that audiences can feel from the first chord. Originally from Austin, he followed I-10 toward the ocean and a new beginning in 2009, eventually hanging his hat aboard a sailboat docked at the edge of L.A. He has been there, writing and growing as an artist ever since. Following the release of his most recent EP, "Leave on the Lights," Parker took a journey to India that lasted roughly 4 and a half months. During this time, he reflected on life, cultivated an abundance of new material, and played shows across the country including the 40th annual “Bob Dylan Folk Festival” in the state of Meghalaya. Freshly back from his adventures, Parker shares his experiences with a confidence, humor and humility that is both touching and entertaining.

They didn’t invent “SHAMROCKABILLY” as a genre, but they invented the word that describes it, and they bring plenty of gusto to it. And they perform as a traditional Irish acoustic band, too, so this should be a fun night. Tix, $15.

This outfit is from Dublin Ireland, a group of Irish lads and a lass that recorded their debut album with renowned producer MARKUS DRAVS (Arcade Fire, Coldplay, Bjork) this summer just past. It's set for release in 2013, on Glassnote Records (home label of MUMFORD & SONS) where they were signed in November 2011. With influences ranging from early REM to Paul Simon and Woody Guthrie, Little Green Cars sound is accomplished, and belies their tender shared ages of 20. The coming year looks to be a big one for this band; go out late and see them in this special Thursday night performance before they play only the big venues. Tix are only $10.
