FREE MUSEUM DAYS IN SOUTHERN CAL... Want to do something special for the holidays, and the budget isn't there? Or you have out-of-town guests to entertain, and you want them to have good memories, but can't afford to take 'em to see the Mouse? Here's just the thing! Many local museums offer free admission days! These can get crowded, so go early. Here are the ones we know, through the coming weekend:

Noon-2 pm LIVE MUSIC at the 9th Annual “WINTER HOLIDAY FESTIVAL” at Pershing Square’s “DOWNTOWN ON ICE” brings a Snow Zone with tons of real snow, ice skating on the outdoor rink (11 am-6 pm) and live entertainment, some of it quite good. The 15th season of the “WINTER LUNCHTIME CONCERT SERIES” is back on the Pershing Square stage, 532 S Olive St / or, W 5th St between S Olive St & S Hill St, L.A. Some are good fits for Folk-Americana fans, others are not (at all).

You can ice skate while you listen, or bring lunch from any of many nearby places and make a concert picnic (tables available).

The HAYDUDES are veteran musicians KENNY BLACKWELL on mandolin and vocals, from the Laurel Canyon Ramblers; MIKE MULLINS on guitar and vocals, from the Acousticats and the Cache Valley Drifters; and WALLY BARNICK on bass and vocals, from the Cache Valley Drifters.
