Wednesday's Child: Live Music Tonight, May 29, 2013

All the events follow, but we have a
.
LATE ADDITION:
7 pm (Pacific) on web radio:
"FUNDRAISER FOR ERIC HANSEN" is worldwide at www.indieshowcase.net and awesomeradio.net on your computer, laptop or internet listening device.
+
Chatroom accessible while you listen.
+
Mom Hen, who hosts the show, tells us, "For those of you not already in the know, Eric received a double lung transplant in late March (and a Hiatal Hernia operation in May). Though his medical expenses are covered via his insurance, his day-to-day expenses are not.
+
She continues, "This show is an effort to reach Eric's fundraiser goal. He's already 79% toward that goal and he's going to be in Phoenix till early July and then going home to Tucson after. But he still won't be able to work for a while, so the fundraiser will cover his expenses until he can work, play, sing, tour, and teach."
+
The "GiveForward Fundraiser" now ends on June 1st. In addition to Mom Hen's favorite Eric Hansen tracks, she will play tracks from a Live House Concert Eric did at Russ & Julie's House Concerts in 2004.
+
Mom Hen says, "I wanted you to hear him live on air so you'll know what a great show he gives ... so we can get him back to touring and singing and teaching ... maybe in a living room or venue near you! To that end, I am also only giving out the links to two websites. The GiveForward Fundraiser and his CD Baby landing page."
+
From CD Baby you can buy and download one track or an entire CD. They accept all manner of payment from credit cards to Paypal and they take good care in getting the music to you in a very timely manner. GiveForward also accepts credit cards and Paypal - so whatever works for you is what will work for them.
+
Mom Hen adds, "Every little bit helps - and thank you. I will be on air and Eric will be in the chatroom and I'm pretty much only going to be playing the music, maybe with some tidbits about each song from Eric.

Yes, yes, we thought we'd have that massive major update finished and ready for you by now. But no. Too much. An unending avalanche from an apparently inexhaustible supply of venues and people performing at them. Meanwhile, "now" is happening anyway, and must be published. "Later" comes later.

Here's tonight's music scene, but first, a

Bob Stane calls them, "A gutsy act working without a net."
+
He adds, "Together, this group of four have synergized technology with acoustic instruments and a message for 'The Dream Generation' about fearlessness, drive, and life without regret. This Urban Folk band is at the beginning of their journey, and they appear to have created a new, intricate and structured sound. They are progressive and willing to take on the world, forever learning, growing, and perfecting their craft. Beneath the flannels, hoodies, and mystique are four wildly educated and talented musicians steamrolling their dreams."
+
Pete Henry and Jeff Omidvaran attended the Coachella Music Festival in 2012, where they decided the time had come to combine their passions and creativity to form a band that would eventually become HIYA!
+
Jeff, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, started playing guitar at age 12 and followed his artistic desires to California. Pete, too, picked up the guitar in his pre-teens and aggressively pursued his love of the instrument through the Music program at UC Irvine.
+
Ashley Nguyen, having collaborated with Pete in a prior ensemble, was brought on board to sharpen the trio with a unique sensibility and vibrant vocal character. Gerry, the savvy percussionist of the band, filled in nicely, allowing the group's music to really take shape and move the spirit. Ashley hails from the San Francisco Bay Area as a passionate music lover and singer. Gerry carries the percussive rhythm, effectively rounding-off the unique diversity of this self-proclaimed "Urban Folk" band. Tix, $15.
