"Wow, what a show!" says Faye Mcd in her review of their show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. She continues, "After almost a full two hours, the band finally called it a night but I and the rest of the crowd would have happily and enthusiastically stayed for two more. I haven't had that much fun and pure joy at a concert in a long, long time. Their lyrics, musicianship, heart and spirit shined bright in every song. They rocked and wailed and then went soft and sweet and sometimes all in the same song. Don't know how you would categorize them... alternative country / folk / rock / bluegrass ...doesn't matter, they are a fantastic live act. The crowd response was wonderful -- singing along with almost every song. The brothers, Scott and Seth and the rest of the band seemed so appreciative of the welcome they were given. They had 2 back-to-back sold out shows in Nashville, so if you see them coming to your town, grab a ticket as fast as you can."

But first, a great how-we-met band story....

THE ROUGH & TUMBLE met when Mallory Graham found a notebook on a double-decker bus. When she opened it there were pages and pages of words from sad, old country songs, to-do lists with nothing crossed out,pages torn from church hymnals, minor league baseball tickets, self-written wedding vows, a Number 1 China take-out menu and a copy of the Declaration of Independence with all the vowels crossed out in red ink.

She saw Scott Tyler sitting in the corner of the bus drinking coffee and she asked if it was his. “Yes,” he said, even though it wasn’t.
+
“Do you remember the melodies?” he asked.
+
“Yes,” she said, even though she didn’t. So they formed a folk band, The Rough & Tumble, and took that band all over the country in a Chevy Cobalt that could fit all the chord organs, guitars, tiny kick drums, tinier toy pianos, wine bottles filled with broken glass, rice, corn, and a host of other noisemakers that a teeny-tiny folk band might need. And together, singing melodies to each others' harmonies, they search the world to find you in need of a song today.

The Rough & Tumble are two scarecrows in a cornfield, two pairs of hands stealing the same piece of candy, a dust devil that traveled seven states to get to you, only to make you cry. They are the only surviving memory of the first bike accident in the history of bikes and the skinned knees and the broken hearts. They love eating fish but always feel bad about it when they put them in the pan, especially when the eyes are still intact. They wake up every morning and work on that crossword puzzle written in a forgotten language that only gets harder the more you forget. The Rough & Tumble are here to lock eyes with you in a crowded room, smile and wink.

He has embarked on his first headlining US tour this month, including two shows during CMJ and both weekends of ACL.

Earlier this year, Dan released his first 5-track EP entitled "From Nowhere." Dan’s music and tastes have been described as “genre-jumping,” and he has drawn comparisons to Paul Simon, Beck, Prince, Passion Pit and Beirut. He has since been working on his first full-length album, and released his new song “In/Out."

TIME magazine wrote, “Liverpool may have found its next breakout music act in 22-year-old folk-cum-electro-pop crooner Dan Croll.”
