+
Venue impresario Bob Stane says, "a double guitar act that must be be heard in person to be believed."
+
TOMMY EMMANUEL (guitar demigod) says this of the dynamic duo, "Take a listen to Brooks and John! Their playing weaves magic, surprises the ear, lifts the heart and takes the listener to a better place. I've known these guys for a long time and I have witnessed their maturity as players,arrangers... now recording artists. Great work Gentlemen, Bravo!"
+
Brooks and John both perform and teach every year at the "Chet Atkins Appreciation Society" convention in Nashville, where they are joined by over a thousand eager spectators.
+
At the July, 2012 CAAS gathering, John discovered that, due to Brooks' recent move to Portland, Oregon, they now only live 20 miles apart. They decided there that they ought to at least get together sometime and play a few tunes. It only took one such get-together for the sparks to fly, and the two immediately set up a regular weekly rehearsal time together.
+
The result is the exciting new “Brooks & John” guitar duo. The contrast of Brooks' lightening quick licks and John's beautiful, smooth playing is only the beginning of the magic. They have developed some truly great arrangements and a kind of performance synergy that goes beyond what either of them can do individually. And it's absolutely infectious to audiences, who are giving them rave reviews.
+
BROOKS ROBERTSON is a protege of Buster B. Jones. Brooks wowed guitar fans even as a child. At age 14, he appeared on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion", where he won first place in a talent competition for 12-20 year olds. In 2010, he won 1st place in the country category and 2nd place overall in the "Yamaha Six String Theory Guitar Competition" in Los Angeles (judged by Steve Lukather and Lee Ritenour, among others). In 2012, Brooks received the Horizon Award for young, up and coming guitarists by The National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame. And he was recently voted Portland, Oregon's best emerging artist by Deli Magazine. Still in his early 20s, Brooks continues perfecting his craft learning new tunes, styles and techniques, as well as composing his own groovy and soulful original music. More at www.brooksrobertson.com
+
JOHN STANDEFER won the 2002 National Fingerstyle Guitar Contest, then won the open division of the 2004 International Home of the Legends Competition. Veteran guitarist John Standefer is a true master of fingerstyle guitar. He has traveled throughout the U.S. and abroad performing concerts, teaching master classes, and performing and recording with an impressive list of other artists. Together with his versatility as a musician, John has produced many CDs, books and DVDs over the years. More at www.johnstandefer.com
