♪ NO MORE MUSIC AT BIG MAMA’S
When we listed last night’s all-acoustic blues show by WUMBLOOZO UNPLUGGED at Big Mama's Rib Shack in Pasadena, we didn’t know it would be the venue’s final presentation of live music. You can still go there for the BBQ, but those nights of fine blues entertainment are gone. The Guide was there, and surprised by the news. WUMBLOOZO commented, “We introduced music at the venue on a Tuesday night, so it’s sadly appropriate that we play it out here on a Tuesday night.”
The reason for the silent stage? Too expensive to pay next year’s demands from Big Music for live performance rights. Ironically, WUMBLOOZO played all originals. But previous examples in other venues indicate that the P.R.O.’s (Performance Rights Organizations) always strong arm the venues, anyway.
