+
Direct from the Autry Cowboy Round-Up, Pacifica Radio’s singing cowboy, “WILD WEST WILL” RYAN, winner of 2 Gold Records and BMI’s Pioneer Award, and featured performer in a slew of Oscar-nominated films, somewhere along the line, he seems to have acquired the added title of “King of the Radio Cowboys.”
+
This highly entertaining, oh-so-musical outfit features “CHAPARRAL KATIE” CAVERA, Whom Ryan calls, “the Mona Lisa of Melody! The Garbo of the Banjo! The Helen of Troy of Western Skiffle!” Plus, WESTY “FLAPJACK” WESTENHOFER, Ryan’s “Maharajah of Musical Mirth! The Yo-Yo Ma of Tubular Sub-Sonics! The Apex of Sidekicks!” And – quite legitimately, an acoustic legend, JOHN “PRESTO” REYNOLDS, Ryan’s “Prince of the Plectrum! Sultan of the Strum! The Grand Kahuna of the Kikomo!”
+
Will and the band have played some of the finest barnyards and concert halls in the world – and they love this one. This is their first show here in many months and they are gushing to tell you they’re glad to be back. Be prepared for audience sing-alongs, Western classics, and surprises.
+
Plus,
SHONA, KARONA, & KATRIONA: the three-and-only SAGUARO SISTERS. “Known in Cactus County, California,” says Ryan, “as the Nogales Nightingales, the Sonora Songbirds and the Wapaloosa Warblers.”
+
The Saguaro Sisters have just finished shooting their FIRST motion picture with Will Ryan and the band. The Michael Schlesinger-directed comedy “Shmo Boat” hits theatres in 2015. Hear these thaumaturgial thrushes on KPFK-FM and see the threesome in person, in harmony, with Will and his cohorts. Find out why Johnny Crawford, co-star of “The Rifleman,” and Will Ryan, the Official Singing Cowboy of Hollywood, say “The Saguaro Sisters are the greatest new vocal sound West of the Great Divide!”

The legendary Dr. John is a six-time GRAMMY Award-winning musician and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Known throughout the world as the embodiment of New Orleans' musical legacy, Dr. John is a true icon in American culture.
+
His colorful musical career began in the 1950s when he wrote and played guitar on some of the greatest records to come out of the Crescent City, including recordings by Professor Longhair, Art Neville, Joe Tex and Frankie Ford. Dr. John headed west in the 1960s, where he continued to be in demand as a session musician, playing on records by Sonny and Cher, Van Morrison, Aretha Franklin and The Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main St. During that time he launched his solo career, developing the charismatic persona of Dr. John The Nite Tripper. A legend was born with his breakthrough 1968 album Gris-Gris, which introduced to the world his unique blend of voodoo mysticism, funk, rhythm & blues, psychedelic rock and Creole roots.
+
In 2013, Dr. John was awarded an honorary doctorate from Tulane University alongside the Dalai Lama. He recently released his critically acclaimed album Ske-Dat-De-Dat: The Spirit of Satch - a tribute to Louis Armstrong - on Concord Records. Join us as we welcome Dr. John back to the Clive Davis Theater, along with Producer, Musical Director and trombonist Sarah Morrow, for a discussion about the new album with moderator Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares. A special solo performance will follow the interview.
