REMEMBERING B.B. KING, 1925-2015
B.B. KING died, at the age of 89, in his sleep early Friday morning. The tributes and remembrances began pouring in. ERIC CLAPTON posted a video that centered-on "Thank you" for the music and enduring influence, when much of classic blues might otherwise have been lost. PRESIDENT OBAMA, for whom B.B. performed in the White House, issued a thoughtful statement.
DIONNE WARWICK, PATTI LaBELLE, GLADYS KNIGHT, and JOE BONNAMASSA were guests on MSNBC's "Politics Nation." Joe was only 12 years old when he first opened for B.B.
GLADYS KNIGHT recalled being on the road with her sisters at a young age, and "Uncle B.B." appearing at her shows, whether or not he was on the bill, and generally providing professional and personal guidance (and ratting-out the girls to their mother if they were doing anything they shouldn't).
It's very worth looking for that segment on YouTube or the MSNBC site, though it wasn't up when we posted this.
