Who's Coming Out of the Closet? -- July 21, 2013

.
So everyone knows about us. We're into six-strings and fiddles, and even (gasp) banjos, and occasional affairs with (saints preserve us) an accordion or two. Sure, there was that nice Celtic harp, before we were lured away by the hot-spiced Cajun rubboard. And we've always been suckers for a uke in a little grass shack.
.
But it's time to come out. We're closet rockers. No, we absolutely loathe and abhor mindlessly thudding modern pop and brain-dead "dance" music. But that good kinda rock 'n roll, the kinda music jus' stirs the soul? We're there.
.
And for those of you ready to come out of the closet, too, we're betting we have company.
.
Which brings us to the reason for this little extra edition.
.
Especially for those heretofore contemplating a lonely evening at home with the string player's rubber exercise squeezums handball. Here's your emotional rescue:
.
♥ From 5:30-9 pm (Pacific), Palladia is airing BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND in their famous concert at New York's Madison Square Garden in 2000. Too ancient, says you? Au contraire, says we. Clarence is performing. No need to say more. Except that this usually only screens as half the concert. Tonight, it's the whooooole thing!
.
.
Full disclosure? Okay. The editor graduated from the four-session class at the Grammy Museum in "The Musical History of Bruce Springsteen," taught by museum director and author of "Greetings from E Street," Bob Santelli. The esteemed teacher who promptly awarded the Guide's editor an "A Plus" -- in writing -- upon completion of the class.
.
For those recovered from the shock enough to have regained sensibilities, or otherwise looking to go out because they need air after those startling revelations about how an acoustic guru can go astray, check the edition just below for plenty of, ahem, ACOUSTIC music. There's even a note on a weekday day series in there. Rock on!

Clever and funny. I resemble the part about the guitar player's hand exercise ball.

Bamp, bamp, bamp, and another one bites the dust.
Lost to godless rock and roll.
Is anyone safe?

This is really insulting. For many gay people, coming out is a profound thing and a major life decision. It's not a joke.

Finally my girlfriend is a Springsteen fan!!! Got to tell you about it - That rendition of Jungleland is what did it!!! We just finished up in the kitchen - her cooking at my place tonight with the concert on. We just came out and set down in time. She thinks that song was the greatest concert song she ever saw. The Big Man was awsome on that sax and to see Stevie van Zandt and Danny Federici again up there!!! She had to leave cause of early morning work but she is A FAN NOW OF MY FAVORITE BAND!!! Thnx for putting that cable listing in or this never wouldve happened here!!! U can still tell us about who plays banjo to.
