Lots of Music on TV, plus action in the venues ~ Mar 10, 2014

.
Some good stuff tonight in the venues – including a really unexpected show tonight at the Coffee Gallery Backstage at 8 pm. Even if you’re sure you aren’t going anywhere, you’ve got to read that write-up.

And TV! Converging factors, but goooood stuff all over the dial. Okay, partly because those annoying pedge drives are starting (yet again, and already) on public television – so that means we get all those wonderful music performances that they only trot-out to use as their cash-cows in pledge drives to bring-in money. Surprisingly, in a happy alignment of the cosmos, there are additional good music shows elsewhere on the tube (which, for most folks, is no longer a tube). So the Guide will be on top of the “Music-on-TV” scene all this week.

Oh, and did we say, “Cosmos?” The redux of the late CARL SAGAN’s classic series is airing this week, hosted by NEIL deGRASSE TYSON of the Hayden Planetarium. It’s all over all the Fox-owned channels – which is quite a curious thing, considering the Fox News Channel’s long history of anti-science / science-denial “reporting.”

Bob Stane says: SAMI GRISAFE is coming to town to wow TV, the sports pages, feature writers, radio personalities and audiences at The Coffee Gallery Backstage. She plays the ukulele, sings The National Anthem @ Top Sporting Events, Plays quarterback (on the men's team in high school) and is now a big deal professional football player. Do not arm wrestle with her. And she is cute. But, you say, "can she tailor her own clothes while standing in a hammock?" O. K. she is fun on stage, gives a great interview and is an over achiever but should I interview her? Let us ask, "when is the next time you will get a chance for a scintillating conversation with a young woman professional football player who sings, plays the uke, writes songs and will be showing her stuff at The Coffee Gallery Backstage? To mix our sporting metaphors ....this is a "slam dunk." "Go long and get in the open."
+
The venue’s clever promo reads, “You know The Coffee Gallery Backstage and Bob Stane combine to achieve what could be described as ‘P.T. Barnum comes back to life.’ By the way, P.T. gave the customers a great show. So do we. But seldom do we ‘Feature’ so much Human Interest in one package. This is as obvious as we get.”
