8 pm “THE DROP: BETH HART” welcomes the highly revered blues vocalist and Grammy nominee for a performance-interview celebrating the release of her new album, “Better Than Home,” at the Grammy Museum in L.A., across from the Staples Center.

Highly revered for her visceral vocals and dynamic range, GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Beth Hart released her new studio album, “Better Than Home,” on April 14. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard and iTunes Blues charts, and also saw Hart return to the Billboard 200.

The album marks an exciting evolution in Hart's sound, and one that comes straight from her soul. Going back to her singer-songwriter roots was cathartic for Hart, who penned each song on the new album in an effort to peel back the intimate layers of her personal pain in search of peace and stillness. After enduring the loss of her sister to AIDS, addiction, family strife and a bipolar diagnosis, Hart has triumphed, bouncing back at full creative strength and prepared to share her story.

Hart's soul-baring voice and musicianship has earned her the admiration of guitarists Joe Bonamassa, Slash (who played on Hart's 2010 album “My California”), Buddy Guy, and Jeff Beck. Hart collaborated with Bonamassa on the albums “Don't Explain” (2011) and “Seesaw” (2013), both of which peaked in the Top 5 on Billboard's Blues Albums chart. “Seesaw” also earned Hart a GRAMMY nomination for Best Blues Album.

Hart's Buddy Guy tribute alongside Beck at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors ceremony received a standing ovation from President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama.

Hart has also released a series of celebrated solo albums, including 1999's “Screamin' for My Supper,” which spawned the Top 10 Billboard Modern AC chart hit "L.A. Song (Out Of This Town)," and 2003's platinum-selling “Leave the Light On,” which produced the No. 1 single in Denmark, "Learning to Live." Her 2012 album “Bang Bang Boom Boom” hit No. 3 on the Billboard Top Blues Album Chart. Annual “MAKE MUSIC PASADENA,” based on France’s “Fete de la Musique,” is an all-day, multi-venue celebration of live music and the people who make it. Mostly free, as it is throughout France (where the entire country goes crazy for it), but a few ticketed events have taken-over the publicity in Pasadena. We’ll bring you a full report before the weekend, but you really should plan to go. You can ride the Gold Line light rail to Memorial Park Station and you’ll be adjacent to two venues with several more in reasonable walking distance, and both the Metro and Foothill buses can get you to several more.
