Here’s the music scene for TONIGHT only -- which really is enough! Spend this cloudy evening indoors at a warm and cozy music venue.

They are calling it “Write the Night 2.” Sara Lee and Johnny tell us, “We are thrilled to be a part of this,” and Sarah Lee adds, “Next year marks 45 years ago when my Mom (Jackie) and my Dad (you know who he is) first met at Doug Weston’s Troubadour in Los Angeles. My Mom was the head waitress and one of Doug’s best friends for most of the ’60s. Last year, my Mother passed away and her legacy is so crucially interwoven into the history of one of the most famous music venues in L.A. -- “The Troub” as she called it. The stories that I heard from Mom my whole life consisted mostly of the people revolving around that scene… She would tell the most animated, intimate, shocking and detailed events that carved her existence, which in turn helped to shape my life. That is why I am so excited and honored to have the opportunity to perform my very own songs (and Johnny’s too) at the place that had such an impact on me and my family. This moment is only one year too late for my Mom to be there physically and see just how far I’ve come, however I can only imagine that perhaps she, in so many ways, helped to make it possible. Nobody would really know how amazing and emotional this night will be for me, because I won’t have the chance to tell you from the stage… so I wanted to tell you now… Thanks for reading and I hope to see many of you there!”

+
It's the 50th anniversary of one of Hollywood's most recognizable landmarks -- The Cinerama Dome, a geodesic structure boasting a screen of 32 x 86 feet with a 146 degree curve. Opened on November 7, 1963, the Dome was designed to show movies in the Cinerama process, known for its ultra-realistic projection, and is currently one of only three theaters of the kind left in the world.
+
For this event, they're screening modern classics in The Dome, featuring Q&As with industry luminaries, displaying exhibits, and offering tailored drink specials.
+
Here are the basic details:
"Raiders of the Lost Ark" screens Oct 22 at 6 pm, preceded by a Q&A with influential, Oscar-winning Director Steven Spielberg.
+
"American Beauty," winner of five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, screens Oct 25 at 7:30 pm, with a Q&A with star and Golden Globe-nominee Thora Birch after the film.
+
'How the West Was Won," winner of the Academy Award for Best Screenplay, screens Oct 27 at 12:40 pm; it was filmed in the curved-screen Cinerama process (meaning it NEEDS to be seen on this screen) and it features a cast of Hollywood royalty, including James Stewart, John Wayne, Gregory Peck, Debbie Reynolds, Henry Fonda, and Karl Malden, among many.
+
"It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" screens Oct 27 at 5 pm. The first movie ever screened at The Dome, it features the biggest comedic stars of the early 1960s in a madcap adventure, starring Spencer Tracey, Milton Berle, Jonathan Winters, Ethel Merman, Sid Caesar, Mickey Rooney and a whole host of comedic actors. The event includes "appearances" by actors Mickey Rooney, Marvin Kaplan, and Barrie Chase.
+
"Logan's Run," a sci-fi classic nominated for two Academy Awards, screens Oct 29 at 7:30 pm, and includes a Q&A with star and Emmy-nominee Michael York following the film.

8 pm SNOWAPPLE, from Amsterdam, plays the Coffee Gallery Backstage, 2029 N Lake Av, Altadena; phone for reservations, 626-798-6236; www.coffeegallery.com
+
SNOWAPPLE is the trio of Una, Laurien & Fanny. Venue impresario Bob Stane says, "Get ready to fall in love with a Dutch Treat. Once again The Coffee Gallery Backstage brings in European charm and fantastic music and show. Where does Bob get these super talents to travel across the Atlantic and journey over all of America to that cute bistro in Altadena? Magic and blackmail. Easy for Bob. Those who were lucky enough to see The Crystal Trio from Siberia, can appreciate the cross cultural talents brought to this area by The Coffee Gallery Backstage. No need to travel. Bob will bring them to you."
+
To make it even more charming, the lovely ladies will count on the generosity and good will of their American cousins by not charging admission. Yes, a donation will do. What trust. Donations to see them perform? Highly unusual at this superb venue, but yes.
+
"These three talented young multi-instrumentalists and singers from Amsterdam are full of musical surprises. They charm their audiences with sweet harmonies, light up-beat numbers with a country feel and most of all their quirky delivery, that ranges from joyful exuberance to darkly ethereal punk. Snowapple's music is infectious and has a feel-good quality that will put a smile on your face and get your feet tapping." -- Rina Vergano, Venue magazine.

"The combination and interplay of their voices was a thing of powerful and mesmeric beauty. Tunes quietly picked out on acoustic guitar, mandolin, accordion and xylophone subtly underpin the weft and weave of their technically brilliant vocals." -- PaulRiley, shout4music.
