The times, they are a-changin'... Mar 9 2019 edition.

Saturday night, March 9, TIME CHANGE

Tonight ushers-in what some call "the worst day of the year," but, for us, makes way for "the best time of the year" -- when daylight lingers after work, into the evening. And rediscovery of life outdoors resumes with a relish.

Now, some agree, and others dispute, that THIS "IS THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR." Not the Christmas "shopping season," which is most characterized by tackle-and-grab behavior motivated by crazed consumers depleting the planet's resources with extreme acquisitiveness of disposable non-durable trendy crap, mindlessly justified by "exchanging gifts." At least that melee is ten months away, and the arrival of the hype and advertising for it is still, what, seven months away.

No disputing, IT'S THE START OF MUSIC FESTIVAL SEASON! Lots of weekend festivals can present a full day of music without dealing with expense and logistics of lights, and soon, festivarians don't need to drag-along parkas!

The time change. Oh yes. As we were saying...

Tonight, the wee hours of SUNDAY, MARCH 10, is when all who follow Daylight Saving Time make our annual "Great Leap Forward" (wait. Isn't that Maoist?) meaning all of us together, in the great collective of civilization, lose an hour of sleep Saturday night. (Hell, you lose an hour of sleep hanging-out after a typical Saturday night concert, anyway, so what's the big deal about THAT? Geez.)

"One minute after 1:59 a.m. Sunday, the clock will tick forward to 3 a.m., and the skipped hour will begin wreaking havoc on our unprepared bodies and psyches. (Though Sunday will also be the first day of the year where the sun sets after 7 p.m. -- so bring on the havoc.)" says the Seattle P.I. -- the days are already longer in the Great White North.

Anyway, fellow travelers -- that is, fellow indulgers in musical adventures -- remember to re-set your clocks an hour forward. Your celph will show you the "new" time...
