WELCOME to our site! Here are useful points for you...

WELCOME to the
ACOUSTIC AMERICANA MUSIC CALENDAR
and the
ACOUSTIC AMERICANA MUSIC NEWS.
.
- and a special welcome to all our new friends from the “TASTE OF FOLK MUSIC / TASTE OF ENCINO!”
.
Here are the helpful things about using this site:
.
1) The CALENDAR listings begin on the date shown, and continue with chronological listings for the ENTIRE MONTH. Each day’s events are listed in the order of what time they begin, with any all-day events listed first. You’ll also find a separate listing for future events, waaaay into next year!
.
2) If the most recent date shown on a post is a date that’s already passed, don’t worry: go to that calendar, and simply scroll-down to find the CURRENT DATE’s events, or to the UPCOMING DATE when you want to see what’s happening.
.
3) The CALENDAR usually provides DESCRIPTIONS of the events. You get not only the “who, where, and when,” but the all-important “WHAT” – the meaningful information about recent awards the artist has won, what kind of acoustic music the artist or the band performs in the show, and often, a note or two about the venue.
.
4) WHAT QUALIFIES FOR INCLUSION IN THE CALENDAR? Primarily, “Acoustic Americana Music,” as it name says. So, what is THAT? Well, it’s blues-to-bluegrass-to-borderlands, Cajun-to-cowboy-to-Celtic-to-Cape-Breton-to-Quebecois, new-old-trad-alt-post folk, and the best of the singer-songwriter “acoustic renaissance.” (That last one includes the artists whose music is used in all those current TV series and motion pictures with all that great acoustic music that you can’t hear on L.A. radio.) There’s more…
+
We list ACOUSTIC AMERICANA MUSIC PERFORMANCES in and around Los Angeles, and ACOUSTIC MUSIC FESTIVALS everywhere, the latter to help you plan weekend trips and vacations and to enable you to know who is “hot” on the festival circuit, so you can make a note to see them perform when they come to town. The calendar also includes some other acoustic music, like good jazz (not the annoying elevator kind), and classical music performances, and we often include good stage plays happening in or around Los Angeles, or a community event we think you might enjoy.
.
5) SO WHAT’S WITH THE “CALENDAR” AND THE “NEWS FEATURES”-? So much is happening that the CALENDAR and the NEWS FEATURES are posted separately. Look in the contents list, in the bar to the left. Find the most recent dates for the CALENDAR or for the NEWS FEATURES, whichever you’d like to read, and click it.
.
6) The NEWS FEATURES contain two kinds of news: things of interest to acoustic music fans, and things for acoustic musicians. Each feature has a title that helps you determine if you want to read that item, so always work your way through all the numbered titles of News Features, to be sure you don’t miss anything you’d like to read. News Features usually include one or more “You Tube” picks of the week, most often a fun video of a live acoustic performance that you’d probably miss otherwise.
.
7) HOW DO I GET MY LIVE PERFORMANCE LISTED? If you are doing a live acoustic Americana show in the Los Angeles / Orange County / Ventura / Santa Barbara area, OR, if you are playing a festival anywhere, please send us plain text (not a jpg), and as much as possible, please follow our listing format (see any of our calendar listings for that). Send the info to us at tiedtothetracks@hotmail.com
.
8) Finally, THE ESOTERICA: multiple paragraphs in the same item are separated with a “+” sign on a line by itself, and each separate item (including separate calendar event listings) begins and ends with a “.” on a line by itself. (You see that here, where point #4 has two paragraphs, and uses the “+” sign to let you know you’re still reading point #4…)
.
Enjoy, and we hope you use the ACOUSTIC AMERICANA MUSIC CALENDAR often to enable your explorations of the incredibly rich acoustic music scene, and that you find enjoyment reading the ACOUSTIC AMERICANA MUSIC NEWS!
