THE FUTURE OF THE GUIDE…
.
One other quick bit of news, first: The future of the ACOUSTIC AMERICANA MUSIC GUIDE, slated to be announced today, is only partially settled. We will decide by the end of May if the Guide will continue to be published past the end of June. At this time, we are committing to continue publication through the end of June. But the final word on the fate of the Guide – whether or not it will continue in the tradition of the past eight years, and moved and expanded on www.acousticmusic.net – will be decided and announced by the end on this month (May, 2010).

CHRIS HILLMAN was the pivotal member of THE BYRDS, and he has been at the center of things for decades, performing as one of the best, with the best. Chris claims some illustrious alma maters, including the FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS and the DESERT ROSE BAND. And In 1971, EMMYLOU HARRIS was discovered by Chris Hillman and RICK ROBERTS when Hillman brought another notable musician to hear her sing in a small club in the Washington D.C. area. That musician was GRAM PARSONS, and soon, Emmylou was atop the charts.
+
These days, CHRIS HILLMAN continues to headline at music festivals. Chris still keeps musical company with former band mate HERB PEDERSON, and he’s made occasional tours with RICHIE FURAY. Anyplace he performs, with or without anyone else, is a cause for excitement and rapt attention.

Recent shows at the Grammy Museum Sound Stage have SOLD-OUT.

(The winning numbers corresponding to each pair of tickets have been pre-selected before this announcement was released. Whoever correctly guesses one of the pre-selected numbers, or comes closest to a pre-selected number, is the winner. ONLY exception is if we get more winners than we have pairs of tickets to award, in which case, a drawing will be held for any win that is in conflict for a given winning number, and the winner of the drawing will receive the pair of tickets corresponding to that winning number.)
+
As long as we’re still able to publish the Guide, we look forward to bringing you ticket giveaways!
