ONLINE LIVE TONIGHT: Roadhouse Tribute to Bob Stane, benefits The Coffee Gallery Backstage
Take note, good people of the land!
This happens live online at 7 pm Pacific, 10 pm Eastern TONIGHT.
It is a benefit for a charming little live performance venue that's been shuttered since the COVID crisis began. And that little venue has repeatedly been name "the best intimate acoustic music venue in L.A." It is the Coffee Gallery Backstage, a name synonymous with being up close with performances you remember all your life.
Its impresario is the legendary Bob Stane. He has received the "Music Legend Award" and been honored by Folk Alliance International. Tonight's benefit -- and we just now learned of it -- honors Bob and his many years of launching young musicians and presenting stars you otherwise see from a distance in an arena concert. He is a wizard who is somehow able to book them all -- in normal times, when we are not forced to stay apart to save lives.
Many of the places where young and old have delighted at live entertainment will not survive these many months with zero income. Their rent, the expensive annual entertainment license fees they incur (already paid at the beginning of the year), insurance to protect artists and audiences, and myriad other expenses, all continue.
