√ LOCAL ACOUSTIC FOLK DUO HITS “PAGE-ONE” ON INDIEGOGO MUSIC

Indiegogo.com is a major crowd-funding website, and most of its content is there to promote projects of contemporary pop and other genres that folkies will cross the street to avoid. So, when acoustic folk duo SABRINA & CRAIG turned to Indiegogo to help fund their new album, “GREEN,” they were taking a shot in the dark, and hoping their fans, friends, family, and supporters would join their "GREEN team." Happily, plenty of music fans are doing just that. With nine days to go in their Indiegogo.com campaign, the folk duo has received Indiegogo pledges for over $9,500 toward the expected $15,000 cost of recording and production of “GREEN.”

What’s especially significant is this: the folks behind the scenes at the crowd-funding site have taken notice, promoting the duo's project link – "Sabrina & Craig – Late Bloomers Blossom" – to Page One of "What’s Trending in Music" on the site's homepage (www.Indiegogo.com). With something over 600 (and growing daily) active music projects on the site, the recognition of an acoustic folk / Americana act is rare, and good news for the acoustic folk music community.

"Our fans are like a musical family to us," says Sabrina Schneppat, the SABRINA of the duo, "and Indiegogo has made it possible for us to make ‘GREEN’ with them. We bring our team into the studio with us, via regular written, photo, and video updates on our progress."

CRAIG, aka her partner Craig Lincoln, adds, "We started off way-down the ranks of hundreds of music projects. Making it to their very-full site’s ‘Page One’ with all our fans' support shows that an album of heartfelt, acoustic, lyric-based songs can compete favorably with the hundreds of rock, pop, R&B, country, jazz, hip-hop, and rap album projects out there."

Sabrina & Craig tell the Guide they “are thrilled by the support for, and pleased by the recognition of, their project,” but realize they “still have a steep uphill climb.”

The funding period for their project ends May 1st, and due to the policies of Indiegogo, if they fall short of their stated goal they forfeit a significant amount of their funding to the website. "So far, we have been right on track," says Craig, adding "we are totally inspired by those who have joined our team. But with a week-and-a-half and over $5000 to go to make our goal, we are working day and night get more fans of acoustic music to connect with us and GREEN.”

Fans of SABRINA & CRAIG are already dialed in. Other supporters of independent, acoustic music can learn more about the duo’s “GREEN” album project, and lend a hand, at:

√ ON-DEMAND RADIO TO GET YOU READY FOR THE COWBOY FESTIVAL (& BEYOND)

Internet radio continues to make gains on terrestrial radio, especially in markets that provide very little diversity, like Los Angeles. Now, here’s jus’ what ol’ Doc Adams ordered (or would have, if Dodge City had web radio in the 1880s), and perfectly-timed as we prepare for the annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival in Southern California, there’s “THE FLYING SL RANCH RADIO SHOW” with syndicated public radio host ''Chuckaroo The Buckaroo.''

The show promises “the very Best of the West, all day and all night--for FREE!” And well, this outfit has built the resource base to do this right. Featuring 15,000 tracks from the likes of Ian Tyson, Baxter Black, The Sons Of The Pioneers, Michael Martin Murphey, RW Hampton, Waddie Mitchell, Gene Autry, Riders In The Sky, Don Edwards, Brenn Hill, Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, Stephanie Davis, Wylie & the Wild West, Larry McWhorter, Roy Rogers, Tom Russell, Joni Harms, Frankie Laine, Asleep at the Wheel, Buck Ramsey, Tex Ritter, Gary McMahan, The Time Jumpers, Belinda Gail, Jimmy Wakely, Chris LeDoux, Andy Nelson, Red Stegall, Randy Rieman, Spade Cooley, Sourdough Slim, Charlie Daniels, Cowboy Celtic, The Marshall Tucker Band, Mary Ann Kennedy, Lyle Lovett, and, they claim, “a thousand more!”

Yep, ol’ pard, you can enjoy classic and contemporary cowboy songs, western swing and cowboy poetry any time you like on your computer, tablet, or smart phone. Plus, for aficionadoes of the equine, you'll get great tips on training horses from some of the top clinicians in the country. What could be more Western than that?

Not only does this new web radio station feature “The Flying SL Ranch Radio Show” with Chuckaroo the Buckaroo, but it offers other programming like “The Best Of The Rick Lamb Show” with horse talk, “Boogie Back To Texas” with western swing, “Geezer Theatre” with old time western radio shows, and “Cowboy Camp Meetin'” with “inspirational” music they’d play in “cowboy church.”

So, saddle up and ride with Chuckaroo The Buckaroo, and any or all of the rest of the outfit, streaming 24 / 7 / 365 at radio station “NFLY” – aka “No Fly Radio,” on the Spalding Labs Radio Network. Listen now, or anytime, at:

Obie Award-winner DANIEL BEATY chronicles PAUL ROBESON’s remarkable life in an extraordinary theatrical biography. Beaty fills the theatre with the dreams, words and songs – American classics like “Ol’ Man River” – of a man who sacrificed everything in the name of liberty. This play, with live music, is directed by Moisés Kaufman.
