Whoa, Nelly! There's a LOT happening tonight, and all the other sources are just plain missing most of it. So we need to step in and eliminate that gap, letting YOU know there are good places to go, and helping the artists and venues so they aren't playing to empty rooms.
Beyond tonight? There's a LOT about future events in our last COMPLETE edition!

First, a forward, before the music news...
Tuesday Sep 29, is "NATIONAL PINK-OUT DAY"
...on which millions are wearing pink ribbons and pink clothing in support of women's health care. The irony screams at you. It's also the day that Congress is beating-up on the nation's largest provider of women's health care in an effort to permanently de-fund it, with some members of Congress demanding a shutdown of the entire government unless their colleagues accept their demand for de-funding. C-SPAN 3 is broadcasting the hearing, live; C-SPAN 1 is covering a related hearing; and most online news outlets, throughout the day, will carry reports of one kind or another that exhibit the latest politicization of women's health care.
One more proof that politics matter. Absolutists, believing themselves principled, want to stop all government activity in its tracks unless they can selectively shut-down a few of those tracks — the ones that deliver women's health care. Even though shutting-down all the tracks stops WIC and Food Stamps, meaning pregnant women and young children would not eat. In the United States of America, in the twenty-first century. Do not doubt that politics matter.
Parallel to all that is the impending demise of the US-government-funded Export-Import Bank. For 81 years, under every president (regardless of party) the bank and its unique purpose have been funded. Until now.
The bank loans money to enable foreign countries to buy US-made products. To qualify, the American manufactured good must be at least 85% US-made. Without the "Ex-Im" bank's support for global purchases, you can say goodbye to that 85% US-made content requirement, and to hundreds of thousands of American jobs that enable it. Corporations will simply eliminate US jobs by moving them to cheap overseas labor markets.
The votes easily exist in Congress to re-fund the Ex-Im bank. But political paralysis has the reauthorization locked-up by House Speaker John Boehner, so the vote cannot be taken. And Boehner's impending surprise departure will not free the bill for a vote, since hardline absolutists vow to stop any normal business unless their entire agenda is fulfilled first — and only then if they can be assured that President Obama can receive no credit for anything.
All that is a big simplification, but it is all factually correct. Yes, politics matter. Just as they mattered when arts and music education were systematically stripped from public school curriculums.
So, even with silly season in a presidential election cycle that started waaaay too early, things matter right now. Register to vote, pay attention, evaluate, make thoughtful choices for the future of the planet, the society, and those yet to come. Then vote. Everyone, vote, because we're all in this together, and it matters, to everyone. So do your part, and help us, you Obi Wan Kanobe, you — you're our only hope.

Now, here's your Tuesday music & arts scene. (Much more tomorrow, including the weekend FESTIVAL action.) Go enjoy!

Tue, Sep 29, FREE, in Arcadia:
7-9:30 pm WOMEN ON THE MOVE (Trio), winners of the Vocal Championship at Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest, bring their soaring harmonies to tonight's weekly "SONGWRITER SERENADE," with performing host JC HYKE and other all-acoustic artists, at Matt Denny's Ale House Restaurant & Bar, 145 E Huntington Dr, Arcadia 91006.
The trio will likely be on stage after 8:30 pm, if you can't arrive earlier.
WOMEN ON THE MOVE, in its large-cast ensemble, held CD BABY's "Editor's Top Pick" longer than any album in the music-supplier-site's history.
A trio from that group has continued to tour. They are songwriters Joan Enguita, Linda Geleris, and Trish Lester, who blend their talents to perform high-energy, moving folk-pop songs brimming with angelic harmonies, womanly wisdom, and touches of humor.
This is an evening of original music — many styles and genres — a weekly show that includes three or four different performers or groups playing on an enclosed, covered patio, with a warm, inviting atmosphere.
You can arrive earlier for dinner; just get seated where the show happens. The restaurant has good food, and there are drink specials at the show.
