"Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival" Guide, April 22 & 23 in Newhall (Santa Clarita) CA - 2017

.
.
The full extent of the 24th Annual "SANTA CLARITA COWBOY FESTIVAL" extends from Wednesday through Sunday, April 19-23, 2017, and we have been reporting on all the events for many months. You can read the most recent of our past coverage, describing all the off-site events in all the evening venues, plus the "field trips" and more, at:

http://acousticamericana.blogspot.com/2017/04/remembering-roz-larman-and-this.html

But that edition has too much that's already happened.

NOW THE BIG WEEKEND IS UPON US, SO WE NEED TO REPORT THE LATEST...

And that is the schedule of live music performances at the principal weekend festival site, Wm. S. Hart Park, in Newhall (Santa Clarita), CA; www.cowboyfestival.org

First, the basic items from our standard format...

✔ TIX: Single-day adv $10 adult, $7 child (ages 3-12); at the gate, it's $13 adult, $9 child. Adv online tix at http://cowboyfestival.org/tickets/; "add-on" tix for the many off-site events are mostly sold-out, as we told you (back in February and again in March) that they would be.

✔ CAMPING: No.

✔ THE SCENE: This is one of the finest Western/Cowboy music events in North America, proclaiming, "It's not Country, it's Cowboy!" The main festival site has FIVE stages in 2017, presenting "Cowboy, Folk, & Bluegrass." Things have changed: it's no longer a "one-price-gets-all" affair, and no longer held in Gene Autry's movie set Western town of Melody Ranch. But, in total, it still books the best stars in the genre, and top cowboy poets. Tickets for all the "add-on" events always sell-out in advance. * Sat & Sun, Apr 22 & 23, The MAIN ACTIVITIES of the festival are Saturday and Sunday at Wm. S. Hart Park. It's the old ranch founded by one of the first silent movie cowboy stars, with his preserved 1920s mansion (you can tour it), and there's even a herd of buffalo there. This year, some of the festival's biggest stars will perform at the daytime weekend main site, where there is plenty of continuous live cowboy / western / western swing music on multiple stages. You can get an all-day ticket for either day or a combo ticket for both days. Parking isn't a problem, since it's free at a huge remote lot off Newhall Ave (there are signs) with a fleet of free shuttle buses.

✔ 2017 LINEUP:

That's complicated, but we'll fix it for you. There are MANY acts on the FIVE stages at the general admission main site, Saturday & Sunday. But... some listed in the festival's master lineup do not perform at the main site, and required those extra tickets to various other festival event venues. Don't worry: there's PLENTY to enjoy this year with the single-price of admission to the main site -- MUCH MORESO than the last couple of years. We have already reported on the complete lineup at all the off-site venues, and all the "add-on" events, so we aren't repeating that. Instead, we're sticking with NEWLY PUBLISHED info on who you'll see on which stage at the main site on Saturday and Sunday.
