Here's the entire Sunday / Monday edition:
.
If you had four days off for Thanksgiving, Sunday is when you feel like William Wallace, the character in “Braveheart.” You know, just before they burn him at the stake, when he screams, “Freeeeeeeedommmmm!” Yes, well, you DO still have Sunday’s music scene to explore and enjoy. And there’s Monday night to help us all regain our sensibilities after we’re flummoxed and pummeled from the return to work Monday. Music-on-TV listings are here, too. Be thankful -- for one more day.

Sun, Nov 25, in Altadena, a “SHOW-of-the-WEEK” pick:

(“The venue named by the Guide's editor, writing in FolkWorks, as L.A.’s best intimate acoustic listening room venue”).
+
Husband and wife team Jim and Anne Curry deliver the multi-platinum hits of the great John Denver in a fine and fun tribute of singing and stories. Acclaimed performer Jim often works with the original members of the late John Denver's band, and has been given the original orchestral scores by Denver's band leader and arranger. In his more intimate shows, Jim plays the guitar and sings John's songs in a crystal clear tenor. Anne, his wife and musical partner, plays guitar and mandolin and sings harmony. You'll be invited to sing along, share in the memories, learn new songs and even howl at the moon (literally).
+
The late John Denver remains one of the most beloved singer-songwriters ever to grace the stage. His music spans two generations and awaits rediscovery as an old friend, outlasting trends and standing the test of time. Younger singer-songwriters, especially environmental activists, are discovering his songs for a new time.
+
Jim Curry's voice was heard in the CBS-TV movie Take Me Home: The John Denver Story, has performed Denver's music in sold out shows throughout the country and has emerged as today's top performer of Denver's vast legacy of multi-platinum hits. Jim's uncanny ability to mirror John's voice and clean-cut look takes you back to the time when "Rocky Mountain High" "Sunshine" "Calypso" and "Annie's Song" topped the charts, and his popular music had the heartfelt message of caring for the earth and caring for each other.
Denver's message is worth repeating: "Be kind to the Earth and to each other. "
Jim will appear with his wife, Anne who plays mandolin and guitar, sings harmony and generally keeps Jim in line! Together, they will take you on a musical journey of the heart, where you will be invited to sing, clap your hands, stomp your feet and howl at the moon. Don't worry, you already know the words to the songs.

NEWS ITEM and INVITATION to take part…
.
The 31st Annual “LOS ANGELES HOLIDAY CAROLING FESTIVITIES” include many music luminaries, and invite YOU to take part, Sunday, December 2, 2012. Activities are very structured and scheduled at five senior care centers with performances from 4 to 7:30 pm.
It’s a “modular schedule” that allows you to “arrive / depart at your discretion.” All venues are located in the West San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, and this event is part of “a nationwide initiative to promote the overall theme of brining happiness and / or enlightenment to the elderly, care-givers, and participants during the holiday season,” says series fouinder VINCENT LEINEN.
+
Immediately following the caroling, participants are invited to socialize and dine at HomeTown Buffet Restaurant in Canoga Park, from 7:30-9:30 pm.
+
Vincent says, “The holiday season can be a very challenging time for our friends in senior care centers. Statistics show that, while for many people it’s the most enjoyable time of year, this can be the opposite for seniors residing in care centers because they long to be at their own home and suffer from blues, depression, and even commit suicide. The music, love, compassion, and energy provided by the participants can provide our senior friends much needed mental and spiritual healing power and growth to address this situation.”
