The big news on the evening's performance scene is that accomplished stars HERB PEDERSEN and BILL BRYSON are backing-up a rapidly rising songwriter named JORDAN SOLLITTO. That's at 8 in Altadena, and you should jump on reservations. Plus, the legendary FREEBO is in town for his monthly session with musical guests.
Details on both -- and more -- are below.
.
First, some news quickies...
For openers: a very full edition of the Guide's "News & Reviews" is almost ready to publish. We're nailing-down the facts on a rather shocking investigative piece.
.
In other quick news, the Guide's presence on Facebook ended today, due to mysteriously being banished there. If one of our staffers feels like playing their games, a future Facebook presence is possible. But the editor has had it with that over-commercialized chat room.
.
Now, on to highlights of Wednesday's music scene...

Legendary musician Freebo takes his monthly break from the road for a few days at home and this residency. He says, "Once again, I look forward to another great night of music at the sweet music room of Genghis Cohen (also an excellent restaurant). I go on at 9 pm, the amazing Chad Watson on bass and several possible excelent guest musicians. Fuzzbee Morse was in an unfortunate accident a few weeks ago, got hit by a car while walking to his own car after a gig, and most lokely won't be playing (but you never know!)...he's recovering, no damage to his precious hands, but very painful over much of his body, particularly his ribs (wish him well here, I'll pass it on to him). ROBERT TEPPER opens at 7:30 and NICK JAMESON goes on at 8:15, followed by yours truly. I promise you a very entertaining evening of excellent music, humor, and perhaps even cerebral stimulation....and really good food."

It isn't often that the lead item is who is "SITTING IN" in an ensemble of musical friends, but this is a special set of circumstances. So, sitting-in are HERB PEDERSEN & BILL BRYSON, orchestrating the guitar and songwriting prowess of the top-billed player in JORDAN SOLLITTO & FRIENDS.
+
There's a good story here. JORDAN SOLLITTO put himself through the University of Arizona singing covers in area nightclubs. A rather long time ago. Then followed 30 years of grim corporate servitude that left precious little time for anything other than spreadsheets, sales meetings and – more thankfully – a wonderful family. Recently, like a singing Rip Van Winkle, he emerged from his musical slumber and began playing anew.
+
Enter the legendary HERB PEDERSEN, who recalls, “Jordan came to me a few years back as a weekend strummer looking to polish his technique. Next thing you know he started writing tunes and it was like a damn broke… with a lot of really terrific music rushing out."
+
Venue impresario Bob Stane says, "Sharing an evening’s worth of original songs that drift between country and folk, he promises to inspire anyone who has ever set their dreams aside… then wondered if they could rekindle them."
+
Sitting in for their third time with Jordan are HERB PEDERSEN and BILL BRYSON, whose musical resumes intersected in the Desert Rose Band and Laurel Canyon Ramblers and also include the Bluegrass Cardinals as well as studio and touring tenures with the likes of John Denver, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne, and Dan Fogelberg.
+
“I’ll pay you back if you don’t enjoy yourself,” declares Sollitto. “And you can trust me…I’m in senior management.”
