Their glowing pumpkin is bigger than your glowing pumpkin... NASA announced today that Titan, the big orange moon of Saturn that is a frigid soup of organic chemistry and lakes, rivers, and rainstorms of liquid methane, also glows in the dark. Really! YES, it's Samhain, pronounced as sow (like "ow") -in, the name of the Celtic's original Halloween, and the Latin American Day of the Dead, and it is whatever it is that we have done with them, in our modern orgy of costumed little menacing beggars seeking sweets saturated with high-fructose corn syrup to stuff past plastic masks. Still, in the real world, things got a lot less scarey today as President Obama and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie forgot about elections and politics and focused on the quickest way to get government aid to victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Now maybe it IS okay to enjoy the fake horror of Halloween.

7:30 pm "HALLOWEEN PARTY" with lots of music on two stages at Viva Cantina, on Riverside Dr in Burbank, next to the L.A. Equestrian Center. Park free across the street at Pickwick Bowl.

In the Riverside Rancho Room at 7:30 pm, GLEN ROBERTS BIG BAND kicks-off the night...Big Band Jazz from a 17 piece(!)

In the Front Room at 8 pm, COWBOY MIKE & FRIENDS play, followed at 9 pm by TROY WALKER. At 10, COWBOY MIKE & FRIENDS return for a second set.

In the Riverside Rancho Room at 10 pm, THE NEUMANS present their special Halloween tribute to the Sonics.

The night ends in the Front Room at 11 pm with a closing set from TROY WALKER.
