Laurel Records recording artist and pedal steel guitarist MIKE PERLOWION last appeared here about 8 years ago. Since then he has been writing, arranging, producing and recording, but rarely performing. (He says it’s time to change that.) A true pioneer, Mike has taken his country and western instrument “where no pedal steel player has gone before,” mainly into the world of classical music. Ignoring the many cynics who insisted that the pedal steel cannot be used to play anything besides country, Mike recorded 3 CDs of music by Stravinsky, Debussy, Bartok, Satie, George Gershwin, Manuel deFalla, and several other composers. These CDs have been picked up by Laurel Records, a classical music specialty label.

Mike is the first pedal steel guitarist whose music is marketed to that audience. For this appearance, Mike will alternate between playing selections from his CDs and playing some well-known popular tunes.
