"A lover of Life, mischievous, "bon enfant," tender and impertinent, melancholy and serenely mystical, half monk and half delinquent." ~ Critic C. Rostand, about Francis Poulenc.

Called "A musical time machine," "a prankster," or, "the rich Playboy of French Music" by the critics, Francis Poulenc was the favorite target of caricaturists. However, he never had any problem talking about what he called "his Parisian sexuality" at the same time as his religious faith.

After a nervous breakdown and depression in 1954, Poulenc wrote to his biographer, Henri Hell: "I know very well that I am not exactly in vogue but I need at least to be recognized. And this has happened. After all, my music is not all bad, although every now and then I do ask myself why I continue composing, and for whom?... The important thing is that these old compositions should stand the test of time. What counts is not what is played but what is played again and again!"

"This downtown Chamber Music Series takes listeners closer to the music and musicians than any other." -- Rick Schultz, Los Angeles Times.

Debra Davis writes hooky folk-rock songs that hit deep. The singer/songwriter and her Band of Gold are powerfully fun live, and have a big international following of fans who call themselves “debheads.” Debra is a storyteller---her songs make you think and feel…and sing along. Songs from Debra’s 3 CDs have been featured on numerous TV shows and films, and her latest features a duet with 5-time Grammy winner Christopher Cross. She is currently writing songs for Peyton List, the star of the Disney TV series, "Jessie," and co-producing her with her hubby/drummer, Dave Beyer. Debra wrote the new theme song, “Girl of the World,” for the Global Girl Media organization, and she was featured on “Angel Encounters” (The Nashville Network), which explored the stories behind her songs. Debra has toured nationwide playing festivals and venues like Summerfest, the Bluebird in Nashville, Bluebird’s stage at Countryfest, House of Blues, the Troubadour, the Coach House, Palm Springs PRIDE, L.A. Marathon, and Revlon Run/Walk. She’s opened for such artists as Christopher Cross, Edwin McCain, and Collective Soul.
