"JOHN FOGERTY: WROTE A SONG FOR EVERYONE," is the wonderful temporary exhibition at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, on display through this month. It features artifacts from his personal collection, and it is named after his current album, hailed by fans and critics alike. John Fogerty’s music was considered rock when he first made it with CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL, but, current and retro, it’s classic roots-rock-Americana now. The album received a rare 5-star lead review in Rolling Stone. Included with regular museum admission, which also includes the temporary exhibition, “RINGO: PEACE & LOVE.”

Jacqi Bowe is an accomplished actress, comedian, singer, dancer who started off at UCLA's theater department and has worked in theatre, film and television. “The Jacqi Bowe Variety Show,” her touring show, plays throughout California. Tonight, she brings comedic songs from her new solo show, “Jacqi Bowe's Not Quite Herself Lately,” in which she plays five characters – Dixie Lee, a neo-feminist, upwardly mobile park tenant, entramanure, Senior Stylist at Wish You Were Hair Salon, Weedpatch, CA, and America's Got Talent – Wanna-Be. “…vibrant and engaging...a talented individual bursting with ideas... her brilliant interpretation of modern life skewers our foibles." – LA WEEKLY.

+
8-8:30 pm – Of Barry Cullison, John Rhys of bluepower.com says, “We decided to stroll around the area in front of the Van Nuys library and police station. It was there I first heard this voice. I started looking for the source and saw a man sitting on a chair, playing a guitar. I didn't know his name and had never seen him before but he was good and I kept listening. I was fascinated as I listened to his intricate guitar work and poetic lyrics. I decided to have him come to the Blue Power establishment and do an interview. During our interview Barry played 4 excellent songs which I think you will find interesting. His style is unique and exciting. His vocal abilities are on par with his playing. The combination of both are daunting and considering the fact he played the songs live during the interview, awe inspiring. I do hope you will enjoy listening to Barry Cullison as I find his songs intellectual and poetic. Not to mention very today." More at http://podcast.barrycullison.com and more at bluepower.com
+
8:30-9 pm -- Willie (Roughhouse) Hernandez and Paul Hughs performing together. Paul Hughes says, "The first time I heard John Lee Hooker was an epiphany. Like sticking my finger in a light socket." These days, Paul Hughes electrifies his audience with hot slide guitar and a style influenced by Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and other blues greats. A California native and current resident of Santa Ana, Paul is a songwriter and plays lead guitar in popular OC band, Huge Blues. Willie RoughHouse, a California native, learned blues harmonica from listening to records of Chicago legend Big Walter Horton and locals like James Harman, William Clarke, Freddie Brooks. Willie has played in many local bands and fronts his own band, Babylon Blues. Willie also plays in Paul Hughes Band, Huge Blues.
+
9-9:30 pm -- Martha Liz (www.marthalizmusic.com) -- after over a decade of classical piano training and some schooling in top 40 standards, Martha has been breaking into the pop market. Martha has worked with such greats as Leon Russell and has been invited to the stage of popular festivals and clubs including the Abbott Kinney Music Festival of 2006 in Venice Beach, California. +
Folk legend JIM KWESKIN, back in the day, shared stages with Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, and The Doors, with his The Jim Kweskin Jug Band, created one of the bedrock guitar styles of the folk revival, adapting the ragtime-blues fingerpicking of artists like Mississippi John Hurt and Blind Boy Fuller to the more complex chords of pop and jazz. In the early ’60s, Kweskin founded the Jim Kweskin Jug Band, with Fritz Richmond, Geoff Muldaur, Bob Siggins, and Bruno Wolfe. Maria Muldaur, formerly with the Even Dozen Jug Band, joined the band in 1963. Jim is a legend and a full-fledged entertainer, doing his thing all over America.
+
THE CROCKETT SISTERS BAND, formerly the Evangenitals, are Alabama-born songwriter Julie Crockett (of Montecito Heights) and her best friend Lisa Dee (of Garvanza). They have been creating beautiful harmonies together for almost 10 years. Their voices combine in a way that many have said only those of siblings should, therefore they coined themselves the Crockett Sisters. Having lent their voices to many other musical projects, including the sensational alt-country Evangenitals, the Crockett Sisters embrace the "mind-blowing melding of voices in melodious musical magic." Anybody who has witnessed their collaboration with Jim Kweskin knows what magic is in store. More at www.crockettsisters.com

The "real deal" from Ireland, Ken O’Malley's rich, resonant voice and engaging stage presence have delighted audiences for over thirty years. One reviewer wrote, "He holds nothing back. Whether singing a passionate ballad, playing a solo on the mandolin, or explaining the gloriously sad history of Erin his homeland, Ken O’Malley is all-in, wide open to the world, and as true as an arrow’s flight. Ken’s fine tenor voice could carry him through a show all alone, but he backs himself beautifully on guitar and mandolin. . . .His wonderful wit and good humor draw us in and carry us along, and the beauty of his songs, both traditional and original, fills us with irresistible joy."

It’s the McCabe's debut of the great singer Rosemary Butler. Rosemary began her career playing bass and singing in an all-girl band called the Ladybirds, whose career peaked when they opened for the Rolling Stones in 1964. After releasing two albums with the all-female hard rock band Birtha, Rosemary became a popular back-up singer, working extensively with Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Warren Zevon, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, and Rosanne Cash. Her vocals were featured on Bonnie Raitt's “Sweet Forgiveness” album, including that record’s mega-hit "Runaway." And her searing vocal is on Jackson Browne's "Running On Empty." She released a solo album, “Rose,” in 1983, and has been vocal coach for numerous famous voices. She co-founded “The National In Choir,” an L.A.-based volunteer holiday choir with singer / lyricist Deborah Pearl, and she was Co-Contractor of the 100-voice choir on Neil Young's “Living with War” album. She's bringing a great band with her, too.
